Flurbiprofen is the active ingredient in Ansaid Fem. According to its chemical structure, it’s a derivative of phenylpropionic acid. According to its pharmacological properties, Flurbiprofen is an anti-inflammatory agent of non-steroidal nature. The drug has analgesic and antipyretic effects.
The active ingredient is completely absorbed into the systemic bloodstream from the gastrointestinal tract. The maximum concentration of flurbiprofen is reached in 1.5 hours after intake and remains stable for 2-3 hours. After this time the effect of the drug wears off. To support the analgesic effect it is allowed to take a second dose.
The active substance is 90% bound to plasma proteins. The half-life of flurbiprofen is 3-6 hours. The compound undergoes hydroxylation in the liver cells. The spent drug is excreted by the kidneys. About 20% of flurbiprofen is excreted from the body unchanged.
The drug blocks the enzyme cyclooxygenase and prevents the synthesis of prostaglandins. Against the background of taking it, platelet aggregation slows down. This allows to control the course of inflammatory processes, reduce the intensity of painful sensations and reduce the body temperature to normal.
Flurbiprofen tablets are prescribed as an analgesic and anti-inflammatory agent for various pathologies of the musculoskeletal system in acute and chronic forms. The list of indications for administration includes:

The medicine is prescribed for migraines and headaches, painful menstruation, toothache, fever in the background of colds, in recovery from injuries or burns.
The duration of the course of treatment and the daily dosage are individual parameters, controlled by the doctor. Flurbiprofen 100 mg is taken orally on one tablet or ½ dragee 2-3 times a day.
When choosing a drug, it’s important to consider possible contraindications. Flurbiprofen is safe for the body, so the list of restrictions is minimal. The tablets are not prescribed for:

In rare cases, if the therapeutic dose and duration of treatment are exceeded - depression, confusion, heart failure may occur. Overdose of the drug is fraught with renal dysfunction and edema. Quincke's edema and bronchospasm are possible at individual intolerance. With intoxication, withdrawal of the drug and symptomatic treatment is indicated.
The patient when prescribing flurbiprofen should read the information about the studied drug interactions. The anti-inflammatory drug increases the effect of anticoagulants and antiaggregants.
